Yaw and Maria #realcoupleproposals

By Chelsea Mazur |

Like many modern couples, Yaw and Maria met on a dating app called crosspaths. After a few days of chatting they decided to meet up in person. Their first date was on Jan 11th, 2020 at Byrant Park. Yaw still remembers the exact time he met Maria in person at 1:11pm. They went ice skating and Yaw took Maria to his favourite coffee shop called BlueBottle. Their plan to spend a few hours together, turned into a 10 hour date, and adventure around New York City. From walking the High-line, to exploring the Columbus Circle. Even after 10 hours together they found they didn’t want to leave each other, and found it difficult to part ways.

They spent a lot of time together and found out pretty quickly that they shared the same views for their future, family values, and faith. Maria said she knew Yaw was the one when I saw that he was very careful and kind with every word he spoke and that he always kept his word. It also didn’t hurt that he has a cool British accent!

It seems when you know, you know and after only a few months of dating Yaw starting looking for engagement rings. When it came time to look for the perfect engagement ring, it was really important to Yaw to choose a diamond and company that shared his same values. Being born and raised in Ghana, he was very mindful of the unethical practices and child slavery within the diamond mining industry. It was important to him to choose a company that worked only with ethically sourced diamonds.

When trying to figure out the design that Maria would be most interested in, he managed to get some hints by sneakily showing different designs from Couple. Working with our Diamond Concierge he finally decided on a stunning Round Signature Pave in 18k Yellow Gold.

The Proposal:

As a wedding and portrait photographer, Yaw was very experienced on how to get the best photos. So there was no doubt that he would manage to capture their beautiful engagement photos. While the couple was out for a walk in Central Park, in New York City, he told Maria that he wanted to capture a photo of them together. Connecting his camera to his phone he was able to capture the moment he proposed to Maria. She was amazed that he pulled off the entire thing on his own and was so shocked and excited to get engaged to Yaw.

In June 2020 the Couple tied the knot in a beautiful small ceremony with just close family. You can follow their journey @yaw_ives, @masha.fit.realm and @myboamahfamily

Congratulations to this beautiful couple on their stunning engagement and wedding!
